Experimental Ver 0.1.2 - 0.1.3 (9/23/22 - 9/26/22)


Note: This post will be updated for all experimental versions 0.1.2 through the 0.2.0 Instance 2 update.

Hi! This is a notice on the experimental version of the Boiler. Experimental releases are to test mechanics and content planned for the next release of the game.  In that way, it could have a lot of bugs, crashing, and problems with it. It's not made for playing the game for the first time or playing the game generally at all (it has a tendency to mess up your save in the long run). However, testing the future content is still important, so it will be here optionally for testers who want to check things out. Below is a changelog of these builds, and it may update frequently. Beware of spoilers for the next release!

Update 0.1.2 (EXPERIMENTAL)

Added:

  • Save data now remembers if it was on an experimental build or not (and remind you depending on your version of the game)
  • On an experimental save, a cheat terminal will appear on the top left while in the Boiler to help test the game
  • Added 20 Cheats (https://baydene.itch.io/geonocturn/devlog/431222/geonocturn-the-cheat-list)
  • Added T1b Subsection
  • Added "Bug" robot class
  • Added "Support" behavior type
  • Added 5 robots
  • Added 7 new research projects (5 robot, 1 armament, 1 module)
  • New aura effects activate at the end of a round. Particle effects show what type of aura
  • The shop can now be refreshed/scrambled at the cost of 5 tears

Changed:

  • Level Up: Temperature Resist and Ocean costs have increased
  • Colliders of tiles have been reduced in size (obstacles and cover is now slightly easier to shoot around)
  • Most sounds and ambience tracks have been replaced
  • The combat sprite for the T1a Null Walker has changed to be more accurate
  • All drone-class robots can now fly over pits
  • You can now take items out of the boiler by pressing End Run while not in combat or in a lockdown

Fixed:

  • Fixed Damion stopping for half a second between movements when targeting an enemy or tile
  • Fixed enemies and allies smoking even when repaired above half health, and also failing to smoke when dropping back down
  • Fixed tiles always showing the selection highlight for attacking, interacting, and moving when going through doors under certain conditions
  • Fixed the reload and combat buttons not graying out while moving
  • Fixed the main menu's "Press any key" text not fading in and out properly upon reloading the scene
  • Fixed a bug where clicking the PDA Handle button would change the PDA to display the Character Statistics page instead of closing the PDA
  • Fixed a visual bug where the shop's PDA handle was appearing above item information
  • Fixed a bug where you could use consumables in the shop and totally break them
  • Fixed a problem with map generation that would cause the ladder or enemies to not spawn
Update 0.1.3 (EXPERIMENTAL)

Added:

  • Experimental builds' cheat terminal supports using the last typed command by hitting the up arrow key while focused
  • Robots floating over pits now fall into the pit upon death (Damion cannot be recovered)

Changed:

  • T1b Smokebug weapon range has been reduced
  • T1b Smokebug heat aura increased from 5 to 11
  • T1b Companion Sporebug health reduced from 7 to 5
  • Plasma equipment prices have all increased
  • Scrambling the shop cost increased from 5 to 10 tears

Fixed:

  • Fixed a bug where Damion would spawn floating over a pit when not a drone
  • Fixed a visual bug where T1b Smokebug's eye animations were looping on death
  • Fixed a visual bug where defensive sprites during attacks would have the eyes (or other effects) of the previous defender during attack
  • Fixed a bug where Support behavior type robots weren't always last in turn order
  • (Hopefully) fixed a bug where transition speeds fading in and out were strange on some computers
