I am beyond confused on how to keep my save data when I update the game. I tried to follow the instructions here but it just confused me more.

Your save data isn't in the files of the game, it's saved in a seperate folder found at C:\Users\'YourName'\AppData\LocalLow\Bayden\Monster Mystery in a file called "save.mmdata"
Because of this, you can delete the old versions of the game and play updated versions without fiddling with your save data at all >vv<
I hope that helps!

All the monster sprites are adorable! Getting Great Maccao from the quiz first time was the best surprise of selectable monsters. I'm really excited to see where this goes.

I guess there is one small nitpick, so I'll be that guy. feel free to ignore. Mizutsune are like peacocks, the bright vibrant ones we hunt are male with the females being smaller and a dull brown color.

lol, I know-- If you mean Misuteri, truthfully I didn't even think about it, I just wanted them to be a recognizable type of mizutsune xvvx if you mean the player mizu, I don't give the player genders, or at least, I do my best not to where I can >vv< I appreciate your attention to detail but I also wanted the guildmaster to be very vibrant lol, consider them an exception here xvvx

I was never going to say lock the player into such. however, if you want the Misuteri to be as she is I have no complaints.

Ngl I thought that Misuteri was just a super effeminate guy, kinda like Wigglytuff was

I'm really happy to hear that! I hope the goofy energy of Maccao fits you well ^vv^ I can't wait to get further in!

Just played through the Chapters and gotta say, you did a great job. The best one can say about a game like this is it just feels like Mystery Dungeon. I've encountered two control related issues:
First: Using a Dualshock/Dualsense Controller just doesnt work well at all, buttons either dont get recognized at all or get recognized wrong.
Second: When playing with a controlstick, the threshhold for diagonal inputs was very low, i often made diagonal inputs instead of straight ones on accident.

Thanks for trying it out and it's awesome you enjoyed it! I know about the dualshock problem and I hooope I can fix that up in the future. Controllers other than xbox have trouble getting their d-pads to be detected, so I wanna get that to work- then hopefully you wouldn't even need to use a thumbstick >vv< It'll be in a patch if I figure it out! ^vv^

I just played the demo and imma say this : Thank you for mixing two of my favorite games into one ! I really love PMD games and this one will definitely make me keep playing when the full version is out. Have fun making the game and please, don't overwork yourself alright ?

Thanks for playing! Glad to hear you like it too! I'm working at a comfy pace, but thanks for looking out for me ^vv^

As both a Monster Hunter and a Pokémon fan, this is one game I dreamt about, along with Monster Hunter Stories before it came to existence.
Not much content at the moment but it felt like a sweet twist on the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon formula. I love how types are replaced with Stories mechanics, and how the story itself sounds like a big deal.
Only question left, are you looking for artists for this project?! It's been a while since I've done pixel art, but I'll be thrilled to make some assets for such a cool fangame.

I love the enthusiasm, and thank you! I was surprised at how many people thought about this idea before! ^vv^ Currently I'm not looking for help, but if people are interested in contributing in the future, I'd definitely love the assistance and ideas!! I do want to finish laying the foundation to the project first though of course lol ^vv^ thanks again!

Alright, good luck with progressing with this project! ^^

Is there a way to be a Tobi-Kadachi?

Yes, either through the personality quiz, or you can disable the quiz in the options and manually select Tobi when you start a new game

Just played it and this looks promising. Story wise i am not really good to judge but i guess imo it remind me about Explorers a bit but it's fine.

The running animation remind me of Chocobo Mystery Dungeon 1 and 2 where the running isn't just like skipping in 1 frame like in PMD.

Gameplay wise looks fine. Not sure about the enemy since i am not quite familiar with the series.

I think that's all i can say since there aren't much content in this game.

I am looking forward with the next version!

Thanks for your feedback! I'm super happy you were able to play it! ^vv^ I am taking a lot of inspiration from explorers especially lol, glad you're looking forward to more! Thanks! ^vv^

Just tested the latest version and i can confirm the game is pretty much playable at this moment. Not sure for some user who don't have this issue but yeah.

I am not quite familiar with monster hunter series but i really wanted to check this out. However while playing this, I ran on some issue where the walking speed and running speed feels slower comparing the one that showcased in the video.

I probably will try to play this on laptop to see if my pc have an issue.

Edit : Even on my laptop. The walking speed feels slow. I also noticed this first while watching the cutscene where it took 11 minutes.

Although i don't have application playing background aside my browser. It still slow.

Thanks for letting me know and for giving it a shot! Like it says in the Known Issues section, I'm working on a fix for the framerate problem for a bigger update  since I have to change a lot of stuff to get it all working- in the meantime, turning off external tools that limit framerate or force fps has seemed to fix the problem so far, but please let me know if you aren't running anything like that... I'm really sorry, I hope you can play through it smoothly soon xvvx

(1 edit)

I just read that. I am not sure how to turn it off. Can you tell me how to do it? Since i can't find anything about it in options

Some graphics cards have software you can get that allow you to force programs to run in windowed mode, at certain framerates, etc... it wouldn't be an option in my game >vv< they all work differently and I've never personally used them so I'm not sure where you would look for that specifically-- if you aren't using any tools like that, would you mind letting me know your PC's CPU/GPU specs? I can't imagine your computers can't handle the program though, it's really small xvvx

This is my Laptop Specs. I don't think i have that kind of tools you mentioned in my laptop.

That should be completely fine hm xvvx I'm sorry you ran into that problem- it might be able to be fixed when I implement windowed mode in the next patch, but if not I'm afraid you'll have to wait until the update where I fix the framerate slowdown... We could do more tweaking and looking things up, but it's probably best I look into fixing that issue on my end asap and you can try it then if you're still interested Xvvx It should only be a couple/few months, but I may look into it even sooner- thank you for helping me out! ^vv^

I really want more of this. I'm guessing the Elder Dragons will be handled like the Legendaries in PMD? And I gotta ask, but how many monsters do you plan for there to be playable? (If you can say that is.) Also I freaking love how you included Soulseer Mizutsune

Love your enthusiasm! ^vv^ Elder Dragons will be similar to legends for the most part, yes, but might work a little differently in your party (I don't plan on using the party weight system like pmd where some mons take up more than 1 slot, for instance)... I posted elsewhere but there are planned to be 20 main playable/partner monsters (all in by Chapter 1's full release), but I'm doing my best so that the code can handle any monster you throw at it, so later on you could play as any of the monsters I have in! ^vv^ Thanks for your questions!

love what im seeing so far and it looks like we have a large stable of monsters to play as! cant wait to see how adding new team members will work. the only negative i noticed is that the left shift key is bound to both "b" and the contextual button so hitting it brings up the log by default. this isnt a big deal though as the keybinds are fully customizible. you went really hard for just a demo

Interesting, Shift shouldn't be bound to the hotkey button by default if that's what you mean? I believe you have to hold F and Shift at the same time to open the Message Log. I'd love to know more about it though, if you'd like! XvvX Thanks a lot for your kind words! Much appreciated! ^vv^

I made a new installation to test it. when you first download and extract the game the contextual button is set to Lshift. it switches back to F if you hit "restore defaults".

Before screenshot: https://imgur.com/1TqfI61

after screenshot: https://imgur.com/E3n4kYw

this isnt really a problem because the key rebinding in the demo puts even some AAA games to shame but i thought you would want to know

Oh! The Controls are saved in the same folder as your savedata, so a fresh installation wouldn't fix that! I'm curious what could have caused that, but I'll look into it regardless! Thanks again of course! ^vv^

WOW THIS IS INCREDIBLE. You really managed to translate PMD into MH and make an incredibly faithful fangame. The spritework is incredibly cute too. Great job.

Hey thanks a bunch! I really appreciate the kind words!! ^vv^
